The Fair

Hey Mister something fer the kids

what about you young fella and your darlin young lady

All the fun of the fair step up if you dare

Only a Dollar eyeryone wins a prize

Spruikers with there lies no regrets no good byes

Goodbye poor old bear I gave it my best shot

Lord knows I tried I never got to know you

You sit on a dusty shelf alone talking to yourself

Poor old bear with the silent stare

I want to take you home I’ll care

Above the noise and childrens cries

the smell of doughnuts and fries

Sheep dogs running their trials amidst the smiles

center of attention in the Arena

trainer and champion none could be keener

Best of show for my Bull is leaner

Path’s

if the stars should light your path

don’t let a good thing pass

quickly as it starts the night is over

in the arms of a lover

moments come and go

which way does the wind blow

from the east or west

I don’t know

Everybody Cries

Everybody Lies

Everybody Dies

Take comfort in your friends

who will be there in the end

hopefully a friend

my ear I will lend

flowers and cards do not send

Moses went walking

he spent his time talking

about what I’d like to know

just what seeds did he sow

Bonny Sally don’t wait for me

Don’t send flowers
On that far flung shore
I saw you standing there waving
wishing for evermore my return would be swift
As the years rolled on I never forgot
when the bottle took over
my thoughts would drift
a bonny lass knee deep in the outgoing tide
My travels took me far and wide
Around the world and other side
In a land of wonder I stayed
and there a home I made
wee bonny sally don’t weep for me
your knight in shining Armour who took to sea
now rusted and broken wait no more for me
a token of once proud young and free
wee bonny sally why burn a candle for thee
down by the docks she waits still and quiet
the lines on her face show the years
faded blue eyes that do not lye th
no longer is there tears
they put her in ground
happiness she’d finally found
Sally the old Crone  someone did say
died of a broken heart yesterday
how did she know

this time she won’t let him get away

Aye

Demons

We walked down the path kissed the moon reached for the stars

behind us was a fire and in it’s glow faeries danced in a row

now the light of yesteryear shines through my window

hitting me right between the eyes streamin in past the bars

the demons of today blame it on them I didn’t do it I don’t know

All through the night
into the morning sun
our hearts kept beat as one
our passion to keep
while others sleep
these are our golden years
no worries no problems no fear
precious dreams held so dear

take this vow till death do us part
take this love and treat it well
I give it from my heart
it’s all I have to give
in harmony we shall live
then comes the day
and the need to walk away
the dream is shattered torn and tattered
nothing to say just go away
wounded by life’s folly
here’s what to do
Boil a brew hemlock and holly
Heh Heh cackle cackle by golly
crossed sticks hazelnut swizzle
sleep well my darling
for when you awake with the sunshine
you don’t know it but your soul is mine
while you sleep your soul I will take
a little dolly I will make
wax cotton needle and thread
Ouch I pricked my thumb and made it bleed
but then again a little blood I will need
through your heart first I pierce
your lips I’ll stitch shut
ooh that’s fierce
maggots for eyes I place
ugly bastard dog shit face
thorn in your side
a bee sting you will ride
put it in a box wrap it thrice

make it secure and watertight
cross my path this is the price
down to the cliffs I go’s
full moon and cold wind blows
with a few parting words
I look to the west and throw
watch it float out on the tide
you will never reach the other side
forever to float upon the seas
to this mortal realm I bind ye
rue the day when you crossed thee
never again will your mind be at ease
forever bound sniveling hound
now you didn’t bargain for this
some things I bet you would like to change
isn’t life strange
stranger than fiction even with limited diction
you will understand in the end
words of warning friend
to the heavens I must first appease
notice the changing of the leaves
mortals full of themselves
nothing but thieves
full of lies complacent ally deceive

Belladonna

Belladonna henna vapor incense and wine
colors so bright and clear
my little world mine all mine
toil and trouble boil and bubble
remembering the good times and bad
when I’m in the ground
they’ll say what a good time he had
Cried my tears in the rain
laughed out loud
I know who I am
and why I R here
I never forget tell
those who are close and dear
how much I love them
and why I want them near
Always will you be in my dreams
Belladonna henna colors of the rainbow
How much I love you you’ll never know
Tried so hard to explain
through the tears in the falling rain
Honey I gotta go it’s the last plane
The people far away are waiting
anticipating

to see me play
hear what I have to say
maybe even brighten there day
bright lights burn my face

my eyes sting from sweat

I love every minute I sing

and wouldn’t change a thing
I choose to be here

with purpose and a use

singing songs of love and lies

about things enjoy and despise

this is who I am

and what makes me tick

I’m just me nothing slick

this is what I do for a living
giving   giving    giving
this is my story

plenty of heartache

very little glory

scores to write dreams to sell

mine and mine alone to tell

Silver thread

Our existence hangs by a thread

when it snaps sure enough your dead

don’t look to the sun or false gods

have I taught you nothing silly sod

you are responsible for yourself

and no one else

you can’t lay blame on another

least of all your mother

when the shit hits the fan

and you breath your last sigh

let go say goodbye

now it’s time to die

I look down upon your soul

lying there rotting in a six foot hole

what did you do with the life I gave

partied smoked and rave

what a waste of time and effort

on someone who didn’t deserve it

next time around you’ll be a bit wiser

or feel my wrath

Lightning and thunder

Pixies in my Garden

•November 13, 2007 • Leave a Comment
In the bottom of the garden

all round me the pixies play

tell me stories they do

so much they know

about how things grow

not just the trees birds and bees

but about you and me

they told me about above and below

fools are shallow

wise ones are mellow

and why the wicked and sallow

hang upon the gallow

in yesterday some will wallow

upon me this knowledge they bestowed

I am but a child wide eyed and innocent

waiting to see what it all meant

and if i die before I wake

memories of blue bells I'll take

In the garden bare from winters bite

blue bells sprout reaching for light

I run barefoot frosted grass numbs my toes

down to the garden I goes

sunrise comes my footprints disseapear

Shoosh can you hear

listen closely I think they are near

floating specks of colour before my eyes

in youthfull innocence I reach out

thats how they let me know they're about

now as I grow older

the winters seem so much colder

My friends in the garden

no more are they there for me

I guess they taught me all I needed to know

and what I was supposed to be

maybe I should have been a teacher

or a bible thumpin preacher

either way it doesn't matter

just as long as I can reach ya

ROSES

I’ll take you down where the roses won’t grow

seeds of despair have been sown

on a hot Harvest morning it all became clear

what was expected and what I had to do

find the balance

Working from dawn till dusk I planted seed and watered well

in the end only heartache did prevail

the talk around the fire these days has changed somewhat

we once talked wide eyed and full of hope

fight the good fight

the bloke above will see us right

I sit eyes squinting to much sun

forehead creased and furrowed a mind set to match

I’ll take you down where the roses won’t grow the seeds die in the row

Saltbush grows with all it’s might,

the land is scorched white from salt too right
